Tesla reported third-quarter 2026 results after the close on 21 October: revenue of $28.05 billion, essentially flat, operating income of $718 million down 56%, gross margin recovering to 19.6%. Full-year capex guidance was cut from $25 billion to $20 billion, with the reduced amount still directed to the Optimus line, AI compute and the Cybercab line. The report states explicitly that Optimus has begun production on the high-volume line at Fremont and that units from that line are the first built to production quality. Elon Musk gave three timelines: one million units a year (20,000 a week) needs at least another year; the AI5 chip will be integrated around April 2027, an order of magnitude more compute than AI4; and deliveries to customers outside Tesla will start around late 2027, initially for hazardous, repetitive industrial roles. He conceded that the main hardware bottleneck sits in the hand — needing both compliance and sensor precision, plus wear resistance and stable grasping of fragile objects. On training, the “Optimus Academy” sets up a reinforcement-learning loop: human data for initial training, then heavy self-play in simulation and in the real world.

Founded in 2025 by MIT associate professor Pulkit Agrawal and former Google DeepMind researcher Tuomas Haarnoja, Eka Robotics closed a $150 million Series A co-led by a16z and F-Prime, with Samsung Next, Glasswing, Bison, MFV Partners, Obvious Ventures and E14 Fund participating, at a $1.45 billion post-money valuation, after roughly $11 million in seed funding. The technical choice is the story: rather than a vision-language-action model, Eka builds a VFA (vision-force-action) model that treats force feedback as a first-class signal alongside vision, generating reinforcement-learning environments in a physics simulator — thousands of hours of experience in minutes, according to the company. On hardware, its force-sensitive gripper is claimed under $1,000 with a rated life of 5 million cycles, targeted at 20 million. Disclosed figures: about 1,500 picks per hour versus roughly 600 for a human, over 95% success, limited to objects under 1 kg. a16z general partner Raghu Raghuram says the company is “already exceeding superhuman performance” on some tasks.

Beijing-based embodied-AI compute chip designer Huixi Intelligent has closed a pre-B+ round and a Series B totalling about CNY 1.7 billion, bringing its 2026 equity fundraising above CNY 2.5 billion. The round was led by the Beijing AI Industry Investment Fund, with the Beijing Robotics Industry Development Investment Fund, Hidden Hill Capital, Loyal Valley Capital, GP Capital, Jiantou Investment, Huatai Poly, Shanghe Dongliang and the China AI Industry Investment Fund taking part; Shunwei Capital, Genesis Capital, Cathay Capital, SenseTime Guoxiang, Bohua Capital, Guoqi Investment, Langmafeng Venture, 37 Interactive Entertainment, Shengyi Capital, Xinglian Capital and Zhuoyuan Asia followed on. Proceeds go to a next-generation high-compute chip for embodied AI and to scaling deliveries. The company works from a “data loop defines the chip” premise: a general-purpose programmable AI SoC called Guangzhi R1, the Huixi Embodied compute series, and a software stack spanning model frameworks, compiler, operator libraries, runtime, middleware, operating system, simulation and real-time control. The platform powers the AGIBOT Genie G2, with a claimed 99.99% task success rate during continuous livestreamed production work.

Shenzhen-based YITA Dynamics has raised over CNY 100 million across a seed round and a seed+ round, with Matrix Partners China, SenseTime Guoxiang Capital, CCB International, L2F, Galbot and Fourier Intelligence investing; Lighthouse Capital is incubator and exclusive financial adviser. The company was founded in May 2026. Founder Zhong Xuegang, from HIT’s mechatronics programme, founded Fourier Guangzhou in 2019 and brought seven rehabilitation robots to production before running the humanoid powertrain division at Fourier Shanghai — three generations and more than twenty actuators and joint modules, with close to 50,000 units produced. The entry point is transmission: a compound planetary force-controlled scheme claimed at roughly 83% efficiency, about 50% lower cost than the harmonic solution it benchmarks, and hardened-tooth life above 20,000 hours, two to three times the reference. Two product lines: quasi-direct-drive planetary joint modules for high dynamics, and compound planetary force-controlled joints with a seven-axis force-controlled arm for dexterous manipulation.

Zichuang Zhixie, which applies embodied AI to construction machinery, has raised tens of millions CNY in an angel+ round led by Western Capital (Western Advantage Capital, a Western Securities platform), following a 2026 round backed by Addor Capital and an industry investor. Proceeds go to model iteration, expansion of industry-specific datasets and commercialisation of intelligent loaders. Founded in Shanghai in 2025, the company covers teleoperated loaders and excavators, autonomous mobile robots and inspection robots, integrating algorithms, machine integration, platform and operations. The architecture is an end-to-end “brain plus cerebellum” system with a dedicated embodied large model for construction sites and a domain-specific world model, resting on an industry data foundation fed by real loading and transfer cycles in ports, concrete plants and mines. Policy alignment: in October 2026 China’s Ministry of Transport issued guidance on AI in waterway transport, targeting unmanned terminal operations and integrated control of port equipment.

3. Dexterous hand dynamics

PRODUCTJiazi Guangnian · 2026-10-21
At IROS 2026 in Pittsburgh, Sharpa introduced three products: the W02 dexterous hand, the D01 humanoid and the AE01 exoskeleton data glove, mapping to hand, body and data entry, with the CraftNet platform turning that data into manipulation capability. The company also published its first commercial plan: 30,000 robots deployed across food service, retail and hospitality. The most notable point is a reversal in product logic. The first generation W01 (formerly Sharpa Wave) had 22 active degrees of freedom, visuo-tactile sensors in the fingertips, shipping from October 2025 and a CES 2026 innovation award; it was the hand fitted to NVIDIA’s Isaac GR00T reference humanoid at GTC Taipei (Unitree H2 Plus body, Jetson Thor). The W02 deliberately reduces that count from 22 to 21 — a rare signal of de-escalation in a field racing past 20. The show floor confirms the shift: at least 17 dexterous-hand companies exhibited at IROS, 11 of them Chinese, plus more than twenty working on tactile sensing, force sensing or data gloves; competition tasks moved from “can it walk” to “can it pick, fold, pinch”, with both the furniture-assembly and origami challenges using Sharpa hands.

JODELL Robotics answers on three layers: execution, tactile perception and a data platform. Execution: the Beethoven Hand reaches 22 active degrees of freedom, with no tendons and full direct motor drive, at one-to-one human hand scale, using in-house high power-density brushless motors and precision gears. The Mozart series (16 DoF) embeds a 3D force sensor in each finger, with response under 10 ms, 25 N four-finger grip and 15 kg maximum payload; the three-finger Jack Hand offers 13 DoF. On grippers, the EPG-HP claims ±0.02 mm repeatability, over 10 million cycles and 60% less energy than pneumatic designs. Perception: an exclusive scientific-adviser partnership with Gerald E. Loeb, founder of SynTouch, produced the BioTac-class tactile sensor, in mass production in Suzhou since September — a biomimetic fluid medium that physically decouples force, vibration and temperature and is inherently immune to electromagnetic interference, meaning China can now build the same technology family used by Shadow Robot; a second, visuo-tactile path is covered by JoTac R1/F1 (0.05 mm 3D reconstruction, 200,000 sensing units). Data: the JoEgo series takes a “body-free” route, using wearable devices to record force, torque, vibration and temperature on real production lines.

According to Gaogong Humanoid Robotics, as of 19 September 2026 China’s dexterous-hand sector had seen about 35 funding rounds worth more than CNY 673 million, up 821% year on year, with investors ranging from Sequoia China to the Beijing AI Industry Investment Fund and industrial players such as Dongfang Precision. On volumes, AGILINK (AGIBOT’s dexterous-hand subsidiary) reports more than 15,000 OmniHand units delivered cumulatively by the end of September 2026; Inspire Robots, after delivering over 10,000 units in 2025, quadrupled capacity and opened its Changshu base in July. Per GGII’s H1 2026 report, China’s dexterous-hand market was about 19,200 units in 2025 (+236.84%) and could reach 70,200 units in 2026 (+265.63%). Three movements are happening at once: degrees of freedom climbed from 6 to 15 and now commonly past 20 (Unitree Dex5-S: 22 DoF and 22 motors in one hand), tactile sensing is shifting from option to standard (Xynova Flex 2: 23 DoF at around 400 g), and customer attention has moved from hardware specs to real-world working capability and economic return.

Numbers: the Casia Hand-M6 weighs only 410 g while carrying 10 kg, a payload-to-weight ratio above 24, with vision–temperature–tactile multimodal sensing, thin-film heat management and 24/7 continuous operation; the flagship X12 offers 12 DoF in full direct drive, combining 30 kg handling payload with 150 N grip, over one million cycles at rated load and up to 1,000 hours of cumulative operation; the G4 three-finger hand uses an in-house gear-plus-linkage adaptive transmission rated at 500,000 cycles; the industrial G7 reaches 50 kg. On software, the CasiaHand Brain-Si 0.5 embodied brain-and-cerebellum model uses a hierarchical architecture: the brain handles environment understanding, task recognition and planning, the cerebellum handles skill execution, motion control and real-time joint coordination. The company also introduced a DL dexterity classification system, aiming to move evaluation from single-parameter comparison to systematic, standardised assessment. On 21 October Unitree Robotics unveiled the H2-X Kung Fu Legend Guardian. In the official video it performs a forward roll over a car, a drop from a four-metre platform landing in a roll, and successive airborne kicks, then demonstrates three security scenarios: standing between a person and an attacker, lifting a car to free someone trapped underneath, and pushing a pedestrian out of a vehicle’s path. Runtime is the real upgrade: about eight hours standing, versus roughly three hours for the base H2, enough for prolonged watch duty, patrol and emergency protection. Price and delivery date were not disclosed. It is the second time in a week that Unitree has moved its narrative from stage to workstation: the pitch is no longer gesture difficulty but a continuously billable service.

At the 2026 World Physical AI conference and Unitree partner summit, founder Wang Xingxing disclosed production scale: between 10,000 and 20,000 G1 units off the line since the May 2024 launch, making it the world’s best-selling humanoid; the company produces tens of thousands of robots a year and hundreds of thousands of joint motors and modules. He acknowledged the level is still far from real diffusion and judged that physical AI is already showing signs of breaking through, with an inflection in one to two years, possibly two to three; robotics’ “ChatGPT moment” could arrive as early as 2027 or slip to 2028. The central challenge, he said, is aligning model inputs and outputs with the real robot. The event also launched the Yuchuang programme, recruiting teams that are already incorporated or have a clear venture direction, with core technology, product capability or industrial resources, aiming to incubate more than 200 ecosystem companies.

On 21 October Moja Robotics, a Chery Group subsidiary, launched its first consumer companion humanoid, Mobao, opening global pre-orders. The robot is 0.9 m tall, has 22 degrees of freedom and interacts in more than 20 languages; production is due by the end of the year in three configuration tiers, with pricing expected in the tens of thousands of CNY. Zhang Guibing, Chery executive vice-president and Moja general manager, framed the logic plainly: “apply the car industry’s cost logic to build a robot that can be mass-produced, delivered and profitable” — building cost competitiveness into the architecture and reusing the group’s global sales network, manufacturing capability, quality system and supply chain. Moja reports more than 3,000 units sold, over 100 application scenarios and presence in more than 60 countries and regions. It is the reverse of the usual sequence — volume first across overseas scenarios, then entry into the home through a consumer form factor.

The first phase targets four scenarios: industrial automated assembly, smart public services, AI-assisted elderly care, and cultural and tourism services; the emirate provides a sandbox testing environment and a forward-looking regulatory framework, and its heat, sunlight and dust offer an accelerated-ageing testbed. The Middle East is becoming a favoured destination: Unitree has worked with Saudi Arabia’s QSS since 2023, its industrial quadrupeds performing high-temperature inspection for ADNOC; AGIBOT has built a regional team and is exploring with the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Türkiye; UBTECH separately signed a $1 billion strategic agreement with the long-term fund Infini Capital in August 2025. Chinese customs data show exports of humanoids up 210% year on year in the first quarter of 2026, with Europe, Southeast Asia and the Middle East the main markets.

At GTC Berlin, NVIDIA announced a major expansion of its Isaac open robotics platform: a reference humanoid, datasets, a runtime framework and robot-learning tools, covering the path from data generation and training to simulation validation and deployment. The centrepiece is Agile Robots’ Agile ONE SN, a full-stack reference humanoid built on Isaac GR00T and Jetson Thor: 1.4 m tall, 40 kg, 31 degrees of freedom, 3 kg payload per arm, planned for market in early 2027 and to integrate NVIDIA’s Halos safety stack; the company says environment setup drops from weeks to days. Also released: the open-source Isaac OS runtime, the Isaac Lab 3.0 robot-learning framework, and the SimReady Central Library with more than 2,000 simulation-ready robots and factory assets; three DGX Station reference workflows cover reinforcement learning, dexterous-manipulation training, and Cosmos world-model post-training with synthetic data generation via ChatGPT Astra. Jensen Huang speaks of an imminent “ChatGPT moment” for general-purpose robotics; ABB Robotics, Flexion, Hexagon Robotics, Humanoid, KUKA, NEURA Robotics, Sereact and Universal Robots are already building on the platform.

AGIBOT has open-sourced the fourth instalment of AGIBOT WORLD 2026, the Physical Reasoning dataset, described as the industry’s first real-world Physical Agent dataset. The methodological difference is the evaluation axis: tasks are organised by decision difficulty rather than manipulation difficulty. The example given is “restock to three bottles”, where the robot must first distinguish empty from full bottles, count them, then decide how many to remove and how many to add — a completely different sequence depending on the initial state. The dataset covers four key factors — object quantity, occlusion relationships, spatial occupancy and task progress — and deliberately captures the decision and execution of the same task under different states and constraints, across nine core reasoning capabilities: attribute-constrained selection, context-conditioned selection, precondition reasoning, goal-directed search, long-horizon planning and memory-state maintenance among them, graded Easy, Medium and Hard. The data chain describes the full objective through the task instruction and structures the task via Task Frame, sub-task intervals and action steps; at the action level, a Dense Prompt specifies the target object, the part to manipulate, left/right arm division and expected outcome, paired with real robot motion, along with box, point and line spatial annotations and success or perturbation labels. The dataset is already being used to train AGIBOT’s upcoming agent framework and next-generation foundation model.

On 20 October 2026 the Yunnan artificial intelligence data technology innovation base opened in Qiaojia, Zhaotong prefecture. Three carriers start together: a multimodal annotation base, an embodied AI data-collection and pilot-production base, and an intelligent computing centre; 300 annotation seats are operational, the province’s first embodied data-collection site is open, and the computing centre has entered construction. The “1+3+N” structure is run by Yunnan Jintai Big Data Technology with embodied-AI partners. The collection site is equipped with multiple robot models, acquisition hardware and an integrated embodied-data platform, and works with local factories, hotels and schools; it reports more than 50 collection scenarios and an estimated total capacity of 100,000 hours. Collection combines teleoperating robots in-scenario with first-person capture of human behaviour, followed by structuring, annotation, automated AI quality control and multiple human review passes. Scenarios cover office, home, retail, industrial and logistics settings.

CAICT puts the gap in numbers: reaching a “ChatGPT moment” for embodied models requires at least tens of millions of hours of real data, while the global supply of high-quality real data sits between a few hundred thousand and one million hours. On-robot capture: Unitree published the UnifoLM-WBT-Dataset in March, with 340 hours and 1.89 million action trajectories in its initial release, updated at high frequency; the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center reports 180,000 hours a year of matrix-style capture capacity and nearly 30,000 hours already delivered; the data company co-founded with Galaxea targets one million hours this year. The other route is body-free capture: Noitom spun out Noitom Robotics in 2025, whose motion-capture cage of optical cameras fits each operator with 27 inertial sensors and optical markers. Three data families are offered — multimodal OM data for fine manipulation, MOV data for human-object interaction at room scale, and lightweight ITW capture — at annual capacities of 50,000, 100,000 and 300,000 hours respectively. China now has more than 70 embodied training grounds in service, with over 40 under construction or planned.

The value of the data glove is being reframed: vision alone captures neither pressure, touch, nor contact position, whereas a glove records hand-joint pose and high-density tactile signals together, converting grasping, manipulation and assembly into trainable multimodal datasets and closing the human-to-robot skill-transfer gap. The chain has settled into three tiers. Upstream, materials and components: Fulai New Material (high-density piezoresistive flexible tactile film, 3D force arrays) and Hanwei (sensitive materials, conductive inks, printed electronics, piezoresistive and capacitive routes in parallel). Midstream, integration and algorithms: Fulai partners with Haocun on a data glove — the former supplies film and arrays, the latter pose capture, unit integration and solving; PaXini offers a complete glove with in-house tactile sensing and delivers hardware together with cleaned, annotated datasets. Downstream, data services: Speechocean handles cleaning, temporal alignment and semantic annotation, while Huizhou Intelligent runs large-scale annotation. The defining feature of this chain is selling hardware and dataset together rather than a sensor alone.

Zhongding (000887.SZ) detailed its robotics business in an investor meeting. Harmonic reducers have been designed in by EngineAI, Fourier and another leading Chinese robot maker, with annual capacity of 150,000 units and about 300,000 units ordered as of the first half of 2026. Force sensors are designed in by Fourier and several other customers, with capacity of 200,000 units a year and samples moving through several humanoid makers. Micromotors are designed in by a leading Chinese robot maker, with capacity of 540,000 units a year and about 180,000 units ordered. Lightweight skeletons and rubber parts have won several design-ins, with electronic skin in progress. On assembly, subsidiary Dingli Kexing produced 60 humanoids in the first half. The group claims a matrix covering “muscle, nerve and skeleton” — precision transmission, force perception, end effectors — and, through subsidiary Anhui Ruisibo, reducer technology. Strategic partnerships with LimX Dynamics, Moja Robotics, EngineAI and Fourier Shanghai; supply-chain cooperation with LimX and Shuixing Ketian; R&D with USTC. Subsidiary Kekebao has opened Hefei’s first 6S store and a secondary-development arm.

XCC (Zhejiang XCC Group) is shifting from single-product supplier to a robot hardware platform spanning screws, reducers, bearings and structural parts. Capacity: 90,000 robot bearings a month, with 300,000 expected by the end of 2026 — a ramp that indicates the product has cleared validation and entered volume production. Orders: screws and reducer parts for four customers (coded SH, Lens, XJ and TP) have been formally issued, confirming platform-level Tier 2/Tier 1 supply capability. Value per robot is estimated at about CNY 15,000 for customer T, CNY 5,000 for XPeng, CNY 12,000 for Ant Group and CNY 15,000 for ByteDance. In the Tesla chain, XCC supplies screw blanks to Xinjian Transmission and therefore does not ship directly — a different tier from Xinjian Transmission and Hengli Hydraulic, which are already designed in for small-volume supply. The value of this disclosure lies elsewhere: for bearings, an unglamorous but indispensable link, capacity figures say more about the volume ramp than funding totals do.

Everwin Precision (300115.SZ) issued an abnormal-trading notice after a 36.43% cumulative three-session gain and responded to questions on its humanoid business: more than 1.1 million humanoid precision components delivered between January and August 2026, with order growth accelerating in the third and fourth quarters. The capability rests on a “multi-material, multi-process, multi-category” combination: aluminium, magnesium and titanium alloys, PEEK and IGUS engineering plastics, rubber, silicone, nylon and woven fibre; CNC, 3D printing, die casting, injection moulding, gear hobbing and hot pressing; and products covering dexterous-hand transmission parts, rotary actuator transmission parts, screw transmission parts, large torso transmission parts and skeletal structural parts. The Shenzhen robot intelligent manufacturing park is operational, with about 60,000 square metres of plant dedicated to humanoid products. The company claims one-stop service from core parts to complete-robot assembly.

On 20 October Schaeffler inaugurated its embodied-AI robot digital plant in Taicang, about 7,500 square metres, combining an intelligent assembly line, a scenario-based training and data-collection centre, a digital-twin platform and a computing centre. The core is an in-house-designed joint-module assembly line for linear and rotary joints, with five stations where six humanoids cooperate on bin handling, part sorting and picking, pressing and screwdriving, functional testing, marking and packing — a loop in which robots assemble robot components. Training scenarios are replicated from about 100 Schaeffler plants worldwide, with training, simulation and production data interconnected. The commercial figures are the more telling part: in the third quarter of 2026 the group won two new Chinese customers, lifting its humanoid order book to EUR 400 million; China CEO Zhang Yilin targets about 10% of revenue from the new business by 2030. The project was listed in February among the outcomes of the German chancellor’s visit to China. Partnerships are in place with Leju Robotics, ROKAE, Spirit AI and JD Industrial.

PaXini has shipped more than one million of its in-house tactile sensing chips over the past year, and its fourth-generation GEN4FUSE delivers native true 6D measurement with microsecond sampling. The decisive point is cost: some standardised multidimensional tactile products have reached the hundreds-of-CNY range, turning high-dimensional touch from a luxury for a few nodes into a standard deployed across the body. In September the company announced a B++ round bringing cumulative funding above CNY 4 billion at a valuation over CNY 10 billion, with BYD, JD.com and Samsung among industrial investors — the highest publicly disclosed funding in tactile sensing worldwide; it has now started A-share listing coaching with Guotai Haitong Securities. The historical context makes the shift legible: in 2018 tactile sensors were listed among 35 critical technologies to break through, and an imported six-axis force sensor cost close to CNY 100,000, confining high-dimensional force sensing to a handful of nodes. Founder Xu Jincheng, trained at Waseda under Shigeki Sugano, has worked on high-precision tactile sensors since 2013 and founded PaXini in 2021. Its growth logic is summarised as a “node expansion effect”: tactile demand grows with robot shipments, but also with sensing density per machine and task complexity.

POLICYSecurities Times · 2026-10-21
On 21 October the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council issued guidance on deep integration of technological and industrial innovation. The document explicitly lists quantum technology, biomanufacturing, hydrogen and fusion energy, brain-computer interfaces, embodied intelligence and 6G among frontier fields in which to explore multiple technical routes, typical application scenarios and viable business models, and requires the full implementation of the “AI+” initiative. Three mechanism changes matter: national science programmes become more application-driven, with more company and venture-capital experts in guideline drafting, review and acceptance; commercially targeted national projects are in principle led by companies that also lead commercialisation, with “use first, pay later” licensing for SMEs; and acceptance criteria are reframed as “application judges the technology, the market judges the product”. On finance, state-backed venture funds are told to invest early, small, long and in hard technology, with long-horizon assessment, differentiated supervision and exit mechanisms, an “innovation points” system and a technology bond market. The Ministry of Science and Technology says the aim is to break with the habit of “producing a result first, then thinking about translation”.

At a State Council Information Office briefing, Wei Wei, director general of MIIT’s science and technology department, gave three sets of figures and four lines of work. Figures: more than 400 humanoid models and more than 40,000 units produced in the first half of 2026, with more than 100,000 expected for the full year; validation deployments across more than 300 key scenarios including warehousing and logistics, food service and retail, and home services; and breakthroughs in motion control, simulation and tactile sensing. Work lines: attacking technology through challenge-based programmes aimed at typical scenarios; expanding scenarios through real-world training and opening commercial settings; building the ecosystem by publishing the 2026 edition of the National Humanoid Robot Industry Standards System Construction Guide, urgent scenario standards and a high-level open-source community; and securing the sector through an industry monitoring system plus quality, cyber and data-security testing. The stated framing is to use the humanoid as a “small entry point” that pulls the broader embodied-AI industry forward. The same day, nine ministries including Commerce issued guidance on technology in commerce, adding brain-computer interfaces and embodied intelligence to the intelligent-product supply agenda.

David Reger, founder of NEURA Robotics, has become a German billionaire on a valuation of about $7 billion, holding roughly 20% of the company, worth close to $1.5 billion. The June round of up to $1.4 billion, led by Tether with NVIDIA, Amazon, Qualcomm, Bosch, Schaeffler and the European Investment Bank, is a record for a German startup; the company says most of the capital has been transferred, with a smaller portion tied to performance milestones. The least conventional part is a network of “robot gyms”: customers rent dedicated training cells equipped with simulation and tracking to train the robots they buy from NEURA on specific jobs; the resulting skills are stored on the cloud platform NeuraVerse and transferred to the customer’s other machines, with the ambition of letting companies trade or lease those skills. NEURA claims an order book above $1.1 billion — half from the existing collaborative-robot fleet — and an $11 billion pipeline of signed agreements at varying levels of commitment, about 80% of it related to humanoids, gyms and NeuraVerse. The 4NE1 stands about 1.8 m tall and can carry up to 100 kg under certain conditions. Reger calls 2028 the “golden year” for humanoids and targets a listing in 2028 or 2029.

A Figure 03 humanoid walked for nine consecutive days on a treadmill, covering about 550 to 560 km in 1.2 million steps. CEO Brett Adcock described it as a “side project” to stress the robot and see what fails. A reading caveat matters: the robot is tethered to mains power in the footage, so this is a mechanical and software endurance test decoupled from battery limits, not nine days on a single charge; Figure has not said whether engineers intervened, nor published the protocol or maintenance logs. It is the second long demonstration this year — a livestreamed parcel-sorting run planned for eight hours lasted nine days and handled 249,560 parcels, but with multiple robots rotating every three to four hours and charging in the gaps. The Figure 03, unveiled last October, carries cameras twice as fast and a quarter of the latency, with 60% wider fields of view, palm cameras in both hands, tactile sensors detecting about 3 grams of force, and inductive charging through the feet at up to 2 kW. The known limitation: a treadmill reproduces neither variable floors, nor unexpected obstacles, nor the frequent stops of a factory or warehouse.

RobotHub’s updated ranking puts Figure AI first with CNY 11.56 billion raised, ahead of NEURA Robotics at CNY 10.89 billion, then Galbot (6.80bn), Apptronik (6.45bn), X Square Robot (6.01bn), AI² Robotics (5.83bn), Unitree (5.81bn), Spirit AI (5.81bn), RobotEra (5.22bn) and Agility (4.97bn). Fourteen of the top twenty are Chinese, with ranks 11 to 20 held by TARS Robotics, Galaxea, Sharpa, LimX Dynamics, Sunday Robotics, Dobot, EngineAI, PsiBot, Keenon and Agile Robots. The list usefully complements Frost & Sullivan’s revenue ranking: the top five by revenue are all Chinese, while the top five by funding remain dominated by four non-Chinese players. In other words, capital density and revenue density do not overlap geographically — US and European capital still funds platform and general-robot narratives, while Chinese capital and revenue sit closer to shipped volumes and concrete scenarios.
TECHNOLOGYShanghai Securities News · 2026-10-21
Geek+ has introduced Gravity Control, an embodied-AI model whose premise is not to make the robot “understand a sentence” but to make a correction intent cheaply translatable into verifiable, bounded runtime control inside the model. The method formally defines a “concept property chain”, explores the action representations inside an end-to-end model and builds a concept control table; when the robot deviates, the operator issues a natural-language hint (“grasp deeper and lower on the next pick”), the system queries the table and applies in-line steering to internal activations, intervening directly on already-learned primitive motor representations instead of replanning the whole trajectory; a closed-loop gate caps the maximum intervention dose so that only specific geometric degrees of freedom change without catastrophic divergence. The measured result: on real out-of-distribution tasks, without updating the original policy weights or adding demonstrations, overall success rises from 17.5% to 87.5%, and one individual task from 5% to 95%. The model is not tied to a specific VLA architecture and has been evaluated on π0.5, OpenVLA-OFT, the LIBERO benchmark and physical platforms. The company expects more than 10,000 embodied-AI units shipped over three years.
